Product code: GP-GP · Specification: Grey Palm gloves with grey PU palm coating
Grey Palm PU Palm-coated Glove, 13G polyester
Also known as: “Grey Palm”, “grey palm-coated gloves”, “grey PU palm gloves” — the difference: PU coated evenly up to the finger base with no smearing, uniformly knitted 13G liner, Overlock version available, stable carton price.
Delivery: in stock, delivered within 24–48 hours (Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai); lead time for bulk orders is confirmed with the quotation.
Grey Palm has PU coating over the whole palm and the inner side of all 5 fingers, and the grey colour hides dirt — for jobs with heavy handling where visible soiling is not needed: mechanical assembly, packing, carton handling, warehousing, maintenance. Good grip on smooth surfaces (plastic, metal, glossy cartons), and twice as durable as fingertip-coated gloves because the PU takes the abrasion instead of the fabric.

Selection by process
– Handling, loading/unloading, light mechanical work, warehouse → Grey Palm (this item).
– Picking small components that need sensitivity → Grey Top fingertip-coated (GP-F).
– White rooms where soiling must be visible → White Palm (GP-P).
– EPA areas with resistance checks → Carbon Palm (GC-P).
– Light oil → nitrile palm-coated gloves (ask PRIMEAG).
Documents per lot: RoHS, CO/CQ; 5-pair sample.
Recurring orders: price held for 6 months, minimum buffer stock of 3 cartons.
FAQ
– Does palm coating make hands hot? — The back of the hand is uncoated fabric, so it stays breathable; only the palm is coated.
– How many shifts does a pair last? — 2–4 shifts depending on abrasion, twice as long as fingertip-coated gloves.
– Is it oil-grip resistant? — PU grips well when dry but poorly with oil; for oil use nitrile.
– What do ML/ND/NK in the stock code mean? — Internal supplier codes for the same specification; customers do not need to distinguish them.
Construction of Grey Palm gloves
- Seamless 13G polyester liner, no finger seams: 13G is a medium gauge — a balance of dexterity, durability, grip and comfort for general-purpose work (Ergodyne). 7–10G gloves are thicker for heavy, highly abrasive work; 15–18G are thinner for fine work.
- PU on the palm and inner side of the fingers: a thin, elastic polyurethane layer with good dry grip on plastic, metal and glossy cartons. The back of the hand is left open for ventilation.
- Grey colour: hides dirt, suits warehouses, mechanical work and packing — where white gloves quickly “look worn” even though they are still usable.
Reading the EN 388 4131 code
| Digit | Property | Level | Minimum threshold (EN 388:2016) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | Abrasion | 4 (highest) | 8,000 cycles |
| 1 | Cut (Coup test) | 1 | index 1.2 |
| 3 | Tear | 3 | 50 N |
| 1 | Puncture | 1 | 20 N |
Practical conclusion: the glove is very abrasion-resistant thanks to the PU on the palm, but offers almost no cut or puncture resistance. Handling sheet metal, stamped blanks with burrs, utility knives or glass requires dedicated cut-resistant gloves (with an ISO 13997 cut level, marked A–F), not Grey Palm.

PU, nitrile or latex?
| Coating | Advantages | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| PU | Thin, light, dexterous, leaves few marks | Poor grip with oil |
| Nitrile | Better grip and resistance to oil and grease | Thicker, less sensitive |
| Latex | Excellent grip, elastic | May cause natural rubber latex allergy |
EN ISO 21420 requires gloves containing natural rubber to carry an allergy warning. In electronics factories, PU remains the main choice because it is clean and dexterous.
EN ISO 21420: chemical safety and glove sizing
Standard PU gloves are made by dipping the liner into a PU solution with DMF (dimethylformamide) solvent, then washing through long water baths to remove the solvent. DMF can be absorbed through the skin. EN ISO 21420:2020 — the general standard replacing EN 420 — limits DMF in gloves containing PU to 1,000 mg/kg. Factories using thousands of pairs per month should keep the supplier’s DMF/pH test reports in their PPE files.
Sizing: EN ISO 21420 requires manufacturers to declare hand circumference and length for each size. How to measure: wrap a tape measure around the palm at its widest point (excluding the thumb). Gloves that are too loose crease at the fingers, reduce grip and wear faster; too tight causes hand fatigue and tears the liner seams.
Typical applications
- Component and finished-goods warehouses: handling cartons, plastic trays and reels.
- End-of-line packing: folding cartons, labelling, palletising.
- Light mechanical assembly: assembling frames, driving screws, fitting castors, assembling steel-pipe racks.
- Machine maintenance in dry, oil-free conditions.
Not for use in EPA areas
Ordinary polyester liners and PU coatings are insulating materials. ESDA advises that grounded personnel handling static-sensitive components should not wear insulating gloves. If the area has exposed components or PCBs, switch to Carbon Palm (GC-P) with the same palm-coating style.
Use and replacement
- Replace when the PU is worn through to the fibres on the palm or thumb, or when the gloves are soaked with oil.
- Gloves wet with sweat lose grip: issue 2 pairs/shift for continuous handling stations.
- Store gloves in a dry place away from sunlight; PU generally ages faster in hot, humid conditions.
- Do not use PU gloves for chemicals or strong solvents — these are mechanical gloves, not chemical-protection gloves.
