PVC dotted gloves

Product code: GE-PVC · Specification: Polyester gloves with PVC dots / bead coating / PU coating

PVC-dotted & Palm-coated Polyester Gloves

Also known as: “PVC dotted gloves”, “plastic bead-coated gloves”, “PU-coated polyester gloves”, “warehouse gloves” — the difference: 3 coating types on one page, high-volume consumption so carton prices are low, sizes M/L.
Common specifications: bead-coated M and PVC M.
Delivery: in stock, delivered within 24–48 hours (Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai); lead time for bulk orders is confirmed with the quotation.

Antistatic version available: polyester gloves with conductive (carbon) fibre stripes and PVC dots on the palm and fingers — anti-slip and antistatic at the same time, for electronics assembly lines and EPA areas. Packed 10 pairs/bag.

Gloves for “heavy handling, cleanliness not required” processes: warehousing, carton packing, tray transfer, rough mechanical assembly. PVC dotted: polyester liner with PVC dots on the palm — breathable, light anti-slip, the cheapest. Bead-coated (thick plastic beads): better grip, abrasion-resistant. PU palm-coated (standard polyester version): similar to Grey Palm but with a thinner liner, about 15 % cheaper.

Type Coating Grip Durability Used for Packing
PVC dotted PVC dots on palm ++ + Warehouse, carton packing 10 pairs/bag
Bead-coated Thick plastic beads +++ ++ Loading/unloading, tray transfer 10 pairs/bag
PU palm-coated Thin PU +++ ++ Rough assembly 10 pairs/bag
Antistatic PVC dotted Carbon-striped polyester, PVC dots on palm and fingers ++ + Electronics assembly, EPA areas 10 pairs/bag

General: packed 10 pairs/bag; sizes M/L; RoHS (for goods exported to the EU, also request phthalate/REACH test results per lot); MOQ 1 carton. The antistatic carbon-striped dotted version can be used in EPA areas when resistance data per ANSI/ESD STM15.1 meets requirements; the other types are not ESD. Not for high-class cleanrooms.

Selection: clean/low-lint needed → Grey Palm (GP-GP); ESD needed but still low-cost with good grip → antistatic PVC dotted; ESD and low-lint → Carbon Palm (GC-P); only low cost + grip → PVC dotted.

FAQ
– Do the dots come off? — After 2–3 shifts of heavy use the dots wear down; thick bead coating lasts longer.
– Are they washable? — 3–5 times at 40 °C.

Construction of PVC dotted gloves

The glove consists of a knitted liner (polyester or polyester–cotton) with PVC plastic dots printed on the palm, and on some versions also on the fingers. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is inherently rigid; to make the dots soft, grippy and crack-free, the resin is blended with plasticizers. The PVC dots create high-friction points that keep cartons, plastic trays, pipes and dry parts from slipping; the gaps between dots keep the glove more breathable and flexible than fully coated gloves.

Reference example: the Portwest A110 dotted glove (13G polyester liner, PVC dots on the palm) declares EN 388:2016 level 214XX — abrasion level 2 (≥ 500 cycles), cut level 1, tear level 4 (≥ 75 N), puncture and ISO 13997 cut not tested — and dexterity level 5 per EN ISO 21420. The maker states the glove performs well in dry conditions. In other words, dotted gloves are mainly for grip and keeping hands clean, not cut-resistant or oil-resistant gloves.

Comparison with fully coated gloves

Criterion PVC dotted Thick bead coating PU palm-coated
Coverage Individual dots Large, thick beads Full palm
Breathability Good Fair Fair (back of hand open)
Dry grip Good Very good Very good
Oily grip Poor Poor Poor
Low marking, low lint Medium Medium Good

Single-sided dotted gloves can only be worn one way; double-sided dotted gloves are reversible, so when one side wears out they can be turned over to extend use.

Plasticizers in PVC – what to ask your supplier

A study published on PMC (US National Library of Medicine) measuring disposable vinyl gloves found total plasticizers accounting for 30–44 % by weight; DINP and DEHP were detected, with DEHP classified by the EU as a Category 1B reproductive toxicant; some samples used the substitute DEHT. The PVC dots on knitted gloves weigh much less, but for customers exporting to Europe or with chemical policies (REACH, RoHS), request phthalate test results per lot from the supplier.

Antistatic dotted version (carbon stripes)

  • The knitted liner has conductive carbon fibres woven in stripes; charge from the hand drains through this fibre network. Ordinary PVC dots are insulating, so the ESD property lies in the liner, not the dots.
  • ESD gloves are evaluated per ANSI/ESD STM15.1, which includes measurements while the glove is worn. In EPA audits, request resistance data by this method rather than relying on the word “anti-static” on the packaging.
  • ESD gloves do not replace wrist straps or ESD footwear — operators must still be grounded.
  • Do not use carbon-striped dotted gloves in cleanrooms: both carbon fibres and PVC dots can shed particles as they wear.

Storage, washing and service life

  • Store in a dry place away from sunlight and heat sources — PVC softens when hot and ages quickly in sunlight.
  • Wash gently and air-dry; do not tumble-dry hot or use solvents (petrol, thinner), as they harden and detach the PVC dots.
  • Replace when the dots are worn flat, peel off in patches, or the liner is worn through at the fingertips.

Common mistakes

  • Using dotted gloves to handle oily parts — the PVC dots slip like a smooth glove.
  • Using dotted gloves near hot parts, solder joints or heat presses.
  • Treating carbon-striped gloves as sufficient ESD protection and dropping the wrist strap.
  • Not defining replacement intervals: gloves with worn dots stay in use, so workers must grip harder to hold goods and tire quickly.
