Product code: CH-CAP · Specification: ESD baseball caps, men’s / women’s
ESD Work Cap with Visor, male / female
Equivalent to: “ESD baseball cap”, “antistatic worker cap”, “cleanroom cap with visor”, “women’s hair-cover cap” — what is different: made from the same fabric as the CA-1P/CA-2P garments so colours match, a stiff visor that holds its shape for supervisors, logo embroidery from 50 pieces.
Common specifications: women’s white/white check/sky blue, men’s sky blue/dark blue.
Delivery: in stock, delivered within 24–48 hours (Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai); lead time for bulk orders is confirmed with the quotation.
The cap is worn with a two-piece suit or a smock in EPA areas and ISO 7–8 cleanrooms: it covers the hair, reducing hair shedding and static from the hair. Men’s style: visor with an elastic band at the back; soft foldable visor or stiff visor that holds its shape. Women’s style: adds a fabric section at the back to cover a hair bun, with a drawstring. Polyester fabric with carbon yarn in 5 mm stripes or check, 10 colours to distinguish departments/shifts (white, sky blue, dark blue, pink, yellow, orange, grey, purple, green + check).

Selection by position
– Female workers with long hair → women’s hair-cover style.
– Supervisors, technicians, QC → men’s style with stiff visor (holds its shape, looks neat).
– ISO 5–6 cleanrooms → coverall with enclosed hood (CA-1P); do not use baseball caps.
– Visitors → non-woven bouffant caps (CH-01).
Documents: fabric resistance test sheet, RoHS.
Scheduled orders: price held for 6 months.
FAQ
– Does the cap cover all the hair? — The women’s style covers a hair bun; the men’s style covers the crown, so long hair should be tied up or the women’s style used.
– Does a stiff visor get in the way when bending over? — The visor is only 6 cm long and does not obstruct; for close-up work, use a soft visor.
– How are colours assigned? — Typically: white for operators, dark blue for technicians, yellow for QC, pink for women, orange for visitors — depending on the factory.
– Can they be washed with ESD garments? — Yes; avoid fabric softener.
Hair: a source of dust and static
Shed hair and dandruff are contaminant particles visible to the naked eye on PCBs, component trays and AOI machine screens. In terms of static, in the triboelectric series of the ESD Association (ESDA), human hair sits on the positive side, near the top of the series — meaning hair readily gives up electrons and becomes positively charged when rubbed against caps and collars made of synthetic fibre. A fabric cap with carbon yarn both holds the hair and reduces charging from the head — the area directly above the work surface when an operator leans over.
Construction
- Fabric: filament polyester blended with carbon yarn (5 mm stripe or check), the same type as the CA-1P/CA-2P garments, so colour and performance match.
- Men’s style: crown fitted to the head, elastic band at the back, soft (foldable) or stiff (shape-holding) visor.
- Women’s style: adds a fabric section at the back to cover a hair bun, plus a drawstring — suitable for long hair.
Where to use baseball caps and where not to
- Suitable: EPA areas, assembly lines, SMT, component stores, ISO 7–8 cleanrooms — worn with a CA-COAT smock or a CA-2P two-piece suit.
- Not suitable: ISO 5–6 cleanrooms. EU GMP Annex 1 (pharmaceuticals) requires, at higher cleanliness grades, headgear that covers all hair and facial hair and is tucked into the neck of the suit — a baseball cap does not meet this. Use a coverall with hood CA-1P or a hood with bib CH-HOOD.
- Even at lower cleanliness grades, Annex 1 still requires hair to be covered — people with long hair should use the women’s style or tie their hair up neatly before putting the cap on.
A cap does not replace grounding
Under the ESDA classification, a cap is an ungrounded static control garment. It reduces charge generation but does not drain the charge on the person to ground. Operators must still wear a grounded wrist strap or ESD footwear on an ESD floor. Do not wear wool caps, fleece caps or synthetic headscarves under the ESD cap — they are strongly charging materials.
Colour coding for visual management
The cap is the most visible item from a distance, so it is often used to distinguish departments, roles and shifts (operators, technicians, QC, team leaders, visitors). Issue a colour code chart, post it in the changing room and include it in new-employee training; when adding a new department, choose an unused colour to avoid confusion.
Washing, storage and common mistakes
- Wash with ESD garments, separately from ordinary clothing, without fabric softener or bleach.
- Inspect periodically at the same time as garment resistance testing; replace when the elastic band is stretched, the visor is broken or the fabric is worn.
- One cap per person — do not share caps, for hygiene reasons.
- Mistakes: wearing the cap with fringe or sideburns exposed; large plastic hair clips sticking out; hanging the cap outside the changing area and then wearing it back into the clean area.
