Construction

  • Top: fibreglass composite with anti-slip ribs, bearing a standing person and tools.
  • Legs: 4 porcelain insulator posts (traditional type) or hollow composite posts (light, unbreakable); feet with rubber pads.
  • Voltage class: 10–15 kV for distribution substations, 24 kV for 22 kV networks, 35 kV for intermediate substations.

Use and storage

  • Place on a flat, dry floor in front of the equipment to be operated; stand fully on the top and do not let your feet touch the floor or metal structures.
  • Wipe dust and moisture off the posts and top before use; damp dust on porcelain reduces insulation.
  • Discard if porcelain posts are cracked or chipped, composite is cracked or delaminated, or the top is warped.
  • Test electrically at the same time as the substation’s mats, gloves and boots; keep the test reports.

Matching equipment for substations: insulating rubber mat, insulating gloves, insulating boots, insulating hot stick, portable earthing set. Guide to choosing by voltage class: electrical safety equipment for electrical rooms and MSB (main switchboard) panels.

FAQ
– How does an insulating stool differ from an insulating rubber mat? — Both isolate the worker from earth. The stool is used in substations and electrical rooms with damp floors or when work at a moderate height is needed; the mat is laid on the floor in front of panels and is more widely used and cheaper.
– What is the difference between composite and porcelain legs? — Porcelain legs are traditional, heavy and break easily on impact; composite is light, unbreakable and moisture-resistant, so it is now more widely used. At the same voltage class, the insulating performance is equivalent.
– What is the delivery time? — Stools are made to order, 3–7 working days; lead time for large quantities is confirmed with the quotation.
