PRIMEAG sells parts individually so customers can extend, repair or re-layout the benches and racks they already own: one technician and a 5 mm hex key at the factory are all it takes. Φ28 steel pipe, 0.8/1.0 mm wall, ABS plastic-coated (cream, black, blue, white; conductive black ESD version) in 4 m lengths or cut to size; DND metal joints D-S1 (2-way), D-S2 (3-way), D-S3 (4-way), D-S4 (5-way), D-S12B (handle), D-S10 (hinge), equivalent HJ-1…12 joints, PJ plastic joints; roller track in plastic/aluminium for flow racks; bolts M6×30, T-nuts, nuts; levelling feet M8–M12, Φ40–60; end caps PJ110A; handles; aluminium corner brackets 3030/4040, T-nuts, hex screws; pegboards, hanging bars; castors (LP-WHEEL).

FAQ
– Pipe wall thickness? — 0.8–1.0 mm steel wall; for racks loaded >100 kg/level and heavy trolleys, add a mid post and cross bracing to shorten the span.
– Can DND and HJ joints be mixed? — Both are Φ28, so they are interchangeable; only the shape differs.
– How do I work out the number of joints? — Send the bench/rack dimensions and PRIMEAG will send a BOM and cutting list free of charge.
Plastic-coated pipe: what lies beneath the coating
According to manufacturers of the original Japanese pipe-and-joint systems (Creform/Yazaki), the pipe is rolled from cold-rolled steel, the outer plastic layer is bonded with adhesive to the steel so it does not separate, and the inside is given an anti-corrosion coating. The standard Yazaki pipe in the MISUMI catalogue has a diameter of 27.6 mm, a 0.7 mm steel wall, weighs 520 g/m, and its specification table lists a maximum working load of 686 N (70 kgf). PRIMEAG pipe has a 0.8/1.0 mm wall, stiffer than the common 0.7 mm type.
- Φ28: used for benches, racks, trolleys and flow racks.
- Φ32: used by manufacturers where more stiffness is needed, as rollers, or sleeved over 28 mm pipe to form telescopic mechanisms.
- Φ42: heavy structures, used with 42 joints and 42/28 adapter joints.
- ESD pipe: manufacturers offer it in all sizes for benches, flow racks and trolleys inside the EPA.

Metal joints and plastic joints
- Metal joints: according to Creform, the joints are made from heavy cold-rolled steel (12 gauge) with a black anti-rust paint finish; the nickel-plated version is used for ESD structures together with ESD pipe. Assembly and disassembly need only a hex key.
- DND (D-S…) and HJ joints are both Φ28, so they can be mixed in one structure, but it is better to use a single system for each sub-assembly so that the pipe cutting allowances stay consistent.
- PJ plastic joints: light and inexpensive, used for light racks, partitions and trays; they do not replace metal joints at main load-bearing points or where vibration occurs when a trolley is pushed.

Correct assembly practice
- Calculate cut lengths from the BOM: pipe length = centre-to-centre dimension minus the portion inserted into the joints; use one joint system within one frame.
- Cut the pipe with a pipe cutter or saw, and deburr the steel and plastic at the cut edge so the joint fits snugly.
- Assemble the whole frame loosely, square and level it on a flat surface, and only then tighten each joint in turn.
- Tighten just enough: over-tightening dents the plastic coating and strips the bolt thread; under-tightening lets the frame twist and the joints gradually slip.
- Cap the pipe ends with PJ110A end caps: they keep dust and water out of the pipe bore and cover the sharp steel edge.
- Check and re-tighten after the first month and after every structural change.

ESD structures: ESD pipe alone is not enough
- Use conductive metal joints between ESD pipes to get a continuous path; plastic joints break the path.
- The frame must be bonded to the common grounding point of the bench; the bench top and ESD mat must still be grounded separately because components touch the work surface, not the frame.
- After assembly, measure the resistance from points on the frame to the grounding point with a surface resistance meter.
Prefer not to assemble it yourself? PRIMEAG builds complete lean pipe racks for factories in Binh Duong – Dong Nai to your drawing, load-tested at our workshop; for SMT lines, see lean pipe racks and trolleys for SMT workshops.

Aluminium profile parts
- T-nuts slide or drop into the slot, allowing brackets, handles or hangers to be added at any position along the profile.
- Corner brackets with covers hide sharp edges and keep out dust; use the full number of brackets per joint as per the drawing so the frame does not twist.
- Do not mix T-nuts or corner brackets from profile systems with a different slot size — order according to the exact profile code in use.
Common mistakes
- Using thin-wall pipe for heavily loaded racks or trolleys carrying moulds — the frame sags and joints slip.
- Leaving pipe ends uncapped and exposing the pipe to water for long periods: rust spreads inwards from the cut edge.
- Wiping the pipe with acetone or thinner — the plastic coating turns dull and cracks.
- Placing plastic-coated pipe close to heat sources (ovens, welding machines, drying lamps).
- Changing the structure without updating the drawing and BOM — the next modification ends up short of joints or with wrongly cut pipe.
