Which cleanroom wiper should your factory in Vietnam use? Cleanroom wipers are textiles used to remove foreign matter from products and inside the cleanroom: high purity, free of ionic content, non-linting. PRIMEAG supplies three types by material — polyester 1009 (surface wiping, chemical resistant), microfiber 8009 (scratch-sensitive surfaces, optics) and nonwoven wiper 0609 (equipment cleaning, most economical). This page helps you choose the right type for each job.

What is a cleanroom wiper and how does it differ from an ordinary cloth?

In practice every cloth or rag sheds lint — even face towels and bath towels at home. The micro-fibers are so fine that the eye rarely notices them, but when static is present they cling to components, displays and lenses and become a source of product defects. Cleanroom wipers address exactly this: continuous filaments shed little, laser-cut edges seal every loose fiber end, and washing and double-bagging in a cleanroom keep particles, ions and extractables very low.

Cleanroom wipers are classified by material into three groups: polyester, microfiber and nonwoven. The three magnified images below show their different fiber structures — which is why each type suits a different job.

Magnified double-knit polyester: continuous filaments, even knit — durable, chemical resistant, low linting

1. 100% polyester wiper — code 1009 (1009SLE)

  • Made with a laser-cutting process that burns off every excess fiber at the edge, so the wiper is extremely clean and does not shed fibers when wiping.
  • A special double-knit construction gives excellent wiping performance and chemical resistance; withstands IPA, acetone and flux-cleaning solvents.
  • Minimizes particles and removes fine surface dust very well — the “standard” wiper of electronics cleanrooms.
  • Absorbency is lower than microfiber and nonwoven wipers, so it is better for dry wiping or wiping with fast-evaporating solvents than for soaking up large amounts of liquid.
  • Double-bagged in a cleanroom before reaching the user. For Class 10 to 1,000 cleanrooms.

Use for: wiping ESD workbenches, fixtures and the underside of stencils with IPA, wiping PCBs after rework, cleaning machine chambers in the SMT area.

2. Ultra-fine microfiber wiper — code 8009 (8009D)

Microfiber wiper 8009, 9×9 inch, bag of 100 sheets — washed and packed in a Class 10 cleanroom

  • For products made of scratch-sensitive materials: optics, glass, high-precision machined parts, injector nozzles, small parts.
  • Small, soft, fine fibers leave no micro-scratches; the wiper is durable and can clean surfaces without any solution.
  • Very effective at removing fine dust and oil film, leaving no residue thanks to its high dust and water absorbency.
  • Laser-cut, washed twice in a cleanroom, double-bagged and vacuum-sealed.
  • For Class 10–100 cleanrooms. Size 6×6 inch / 9×9 inch; 100 sheets/bag, 10 bags/carton.

Use for: wiping camera module lenses, displays, touch glass, optical molds, glossy painted or plated surfaces.

3. Nonwoven wiper — code 0609 (6×6 inch: 0606)

Nonwoven wiper 0606 (6×6 inch, 300 sheets/bag), 55% cellulose – 45% polyester; code 0609 is the 9×9 inch size of the same line
Nonwoven wiper 0606 (6×6 inch, 300 sheets/bag), 55% cellulose – 45% polyester; code 0609 is the 9×9 inch size of the same line
  • Nonwoven fabric of 45% polyester – 55% cellulose with good absorbency, so no residue remains even when wiping liquids.
  • A special surface treatment prevents linting in normal wiping.
  • Mainly used for cleaning and wiping equipment in the cleanroom; also the same material family as SMT stencil wiping rolls.
  • Class 100 to 1,000 cleanrooms. The lowest-cost wiper type, extremely economical for high-volume wiping.
  • Size 6×6 inch / 9×9 inch; 300 sheets/bag, 10 bags/carton. SGS RoHS 10-substance and halogen reports are available for the polycellulose wiper — see the certificate files.

Use for: wiping machine tables, trays and conveyor belts, soaking up solvent spills, wiping flux after hand soldering, lining component trays.

Choosing a wiper by task

Task Recommended Why
Wiping ESD benches, fixtures, stencils with IPA Polyester 1009 Solvent resistant, low linting, durable when scrubbing
Lenses, displays, glass, glossy painted parts Microfiber 8009 Soft fibers do not scratch, absorb finger oil without streaks
Equipment cleaning, wiping liquids, single use Nonwoven 0609 / 0606 Absorbs fast, low cost, discard after use
Automatic solder paste stencil wiping Polycellulose roll to machine width Same material as 0609, rolled to fit DEK/MPM/Yamaha machines
Bare PCBs and components in an EPA Polyester 1009 + ionizer if needed Microfiber generates more static when rubbed

Correct use for the best results

  • Open the bag inside the clean area, take only what you need, then fold the bag closed; do not leave wipers exposed on the bench.
  • Fold the wiper in four and wipe in one direction with parallel, overlapping strokes; turn to a clean face after each stroke and discard the wiper when no clean face is left — do not wipe in circles.
  • Dampen with solvent, do not soak; do not pour directly from a large can onto the wiper.
  • Keep separate wipers for optical surfaces and do not share them with machine-wiping cloths (a wiper that has picked up hard particles will scratch).
  • Cleanroom wipers are single use or laundered by a cleanroom laundry service; do not hand-wash and do not use fabric softener.

Ordering

All three types are stock items, delivered in 24–48 hours (Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai); monthly recurring orders have prices held for 6 months. Send the code you currently use (1009SLE, 8009D, 0609, Kimwipes…) or a photo of the bag label — PRIMEAG quotes within 30 minutes, with an equivalent code if it is more cost-effective. Export processing enterprises receive 0% VAT invoices, and PRIMEAG handles on-the-spot customs declaration for orders from 20 million VND.

Frequently asked questions

  • If I can only stock one cleanroom wiper, which should I buy? — Electronics cleanrooms usually choose polyester 1009 as the main wiper (benches, fixtures, solvents), adding 0609 for rough cleaning and microfiber 8009 only at optics and display stations.
  • Apart from size, how do 9×9 and 6×6 wipers differ? — Same material and cleanliness class; 6×6 suits small parts and saves cost; 9×9 is folded in four for benches and equipment. Prices are per bag, so 6×6 is cheaper.
  • Can the 0609 nonwoven wiper be used in a Class 100 cleanroom? — Yes, for cleaning equipment, floors and benches in Class 100–1,000; for particle-sensitive product surfaces use laser-edged polyester or microfiber.
  • Which certificates come with the wipers? — The polycellulose wiper has SGS RoHS and halogen reports; polyester and microfiber wipers carry the manufacturer’s RoHS label; a CoA per lot is provided on customer request.
