The under-stencil wiper roll decides your paste printing defect rate: paper that sheds fibres blocks apertures, paper that absorbs poorly leaves residue, paper that tears jams the printer. PRIMEAG supplies two surfaces – plain wiper for fine paste and thin stencils, and mesh wiper for thick residue and fine pitch – in the 3 common sizes for DEK, MPM and Yamaha, with SGS RoHS and halogen reports (2023). Plain or mesh wiper – choose by printer and solder paste
Plain wiper (flat, smooth paper): a smooth, flat, uniform surface with no embossed grid or holes; made from 55 % cellulose (natural wood pulp) and 45 % polyester by the spunlace process; soft and smooth to the touch. The continuous contact surface does not scratch thin or fine-pitch stencils, and absorbs solvent, water and oil very evenly. Suited to printers that demand high cleanliness, fine solder paste with little heavy residue, and a standard wet/dry wipe cycle.
Mesh wiper (embossed grid pattern): the same 55 % cellulose / 45 % polyester blend, but processed with a mesh texture, small grid pattern or mesh-like apertures on the surface to increase friction. The grid cells “scrape” and hold thick, stubborn solder paste or large amounts of residue from the stencil foil. Suited to high-throughput printers and fine-pitch stencils where hardened paste builds up and needs a more aggressive wipe.
Requirements common to both: lint-free – no loose fibres or paper dust that block stencil apertures and cause paste printing defects on the PCB; high tensile strength – no tearing under the pull and pressure of the wiper head; good anti-static behaviour – ESD-safe for wiping in the SMT area. PRIMEAG rolls pass RoHS 10 substances and halogen testing (SGS 2023), basis weight 56 ± 5 g/m², LPC (particles ≥ 0.5 µm) below 8,000 particles/cm², absorbency ≥ 280 mL/m².

Dry wipe, wet wipe or vacuum
- Dry wipe: the printer draws the paper across the underside of the stencil, scraping off paste residue. Plain wiper is enough for fine paste; switch to mesh for heavy residue.
- Wet wipe: the printer sprays IPA or stencil cleaner onto the paper before the pass. The paper must absorb quickly, not disintegrate and leave no fibres – both PRIMEAG types qualify.
- Vacuum: the printer draws air through the paper to pull residue out of the apertures; choose mesh so residue lodges in the grid cells and does not block the vacuum ports.
