E-commerce Packing Station Design in Vietnam: Bench with Shelves, Lamps, Outlets

Looking for an e-commerce packing station in Vietnam that stops slow packing and wrong orders? Packing stations are usually slow and error-prone because supplies sit out of reach, the label printer and scale are placed wherever there is room, and incoming and outgoing goods cross each other. PRIMEAG designs packing benches with a lean pipe (plastic-coated steel pipe, Φ28) frame, an upper shelf, lamps and a 6-outlet power strip, with a 1200×750 or 1500×750 top chosen by order size.

Summary
  • Bench size: 1200×750 for small one–two item orders; 1500×750 for multi-item orders and large cartons.
  • Upper shelves: pre-folded cartons, label printer; a hanging bar holds the tape.
  • One-way flow: pending orders enter at one end, labelled parcels leave at the other.

Why packing stations are slow and pack wrong orders

Time is usually lost leaving the bench to fetch cartons, searching for tape and waiting for a shared label printer. Wrong orders happen when two orders sit on the bench at once, or when scanned and unscanned items get mixed. For picking errors at the racks, see fixing wrong-location picks and slow picking in the warehouse.

The plastic-coated steel pipe workbench uses an MDF or moisture-resistant board top, 15–17 mm with plastic edging; the top carries 150 kg. Adjustable feet (±20 mm) level the bench on the floor; the top height is set for the main standing operator.

Arranging supplies around the bench top

Upper shelves: cartons and label printer

The bench has 2 upper shelf tiers, each rated 20 kg. The deep tier holds pre-folded cartons; the shallow tier holds the label printer and spare label rolls.

Hanging bar: tape, bubble wrap

A tool hanging bar keeps tape and cutters within reach. A 1.5 m wide roll of bubble wrap is quite heavy (PE stretch film is only 25–50 cm wide); add a cross pipe with joints at the end of the bench as an axle to pull and cut from.

Lamps and power outlets

The powered version has 2 LED lamps, a 6-outlet power strip and a switch, enough for the label printer, scanner and scale. For benches 1.2–1.8 m long, a 1.2 m moisture-proof LED lamp set (20 W tube) fits well; use the double type when visual inspection is needed.

Place the scale next to the labelling position, after the sealing step; the bench must be level so the reading does not fluctuate.

One-way flow of goods in and out

Picked goods arrive at the station on a multi-tier steel pipe trolley, one order group per tier, about 100 kg per tier.

On the bench, work in one direction: pending-order tray, scan and pack, weigh and print label, finished parcel. One tray per order; do not open the next order until the current parcel is labelled.

Mark flow lanes on the floor with 3M industrial tape: 471 for hand-trolley aisles, 764 for light lines and parcel drop zones. The tape is delivered in 24–48 hours in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai.

Reference project

In 09/2026, PRIMEAG delivered to a Singapore-invested e-commerce transit warehouse in Ho Chi Minh City: 50 benches 1200×750, 30 benches 1500×750 and 4 stainless steel 304 tables 1200×2400. Production took 10 days (a rush order with a schedule agreed separately with the customer; orders over 20 benches normally take 2–3 weeks), installation 2 days.

Where to start

  1. Count orders at peak hour and split them into few-item and multi-item orders.
  2. List the equipment on the bench and the carton sizes you use most.
  3. Sketch the packing area: columns, trolley aisles, dispatch door.
  4. Send it to PRIMEAG for a layout drawing and a quote within 30 minutes.

Standard-model benches are produced in 5–7 working days; orders of more than 20 benches take 2–3 weeks. The frame has a 3-year warranty; lamps, outlets and casters 12 months. Same frame system: plastic-coated steel pipe racks and trolleys in Binh Duong, Dong Nai.

Frequently asked questions

What size packing table for e-commerce: 1200×750 or 1500×750? For small one- or two-item orders, 1200×750 keeps things compact. For multi-item orders or large cartons, choose 1500×750 to leave room for the pending tray and an open box.

Can I add shelves or hanging bars to the packing bench after installation? Yes. The Φ28 pipe frame is assembled with bolted joints, so you only need extra pipe and joints to add a new tier or a roll-hanging axle.

What is the load capacity of the shelves above a packing bench? Each shelf tier carries 20 kg; the bench top carries 150 kg.
